Embracing Change: My Journey from Software Developer at MNC to Product Manager at JIO

Life is a beautiful journey, and our careers often serve as a reflection of our growth and aspirations. My career journey began eight years ago as a wide-eyed software developer with a thirst for knowledge and a passion for technology. Over the years, I honed my skills and navigated through various challenges and opportunities that ultimately led me to pursue an MBA at XLRI Jamshedpur, a transformative decision that opened new doors and propelled my career towards a thrilling new trajectory. In this blog, I want to share the positive impact of my MBA and the invaluable experiences at XLRI, culminating in my post MBA role as a Product Manager at JIO.

The Path of a Software Developer:

I started my work as a software developer with passion and a desire to use technology to change the world. The domain offered lots of chances to study, experiment, and create original solutions. Working as a software developer allowed me to advance both personally and professionally. I gained technical know-how, discovered the value of cooperation, and developed a better comprehension of the dynamics of the market.


The Transformative MBA Experience:

I made the brave decision to enroll in the MBA program at XLRI Jamshedpur in 2022. Although choosing to go back to school was not an easy choice, it ended up being one of the professional turning points for me. The MBA program expanded my horizons, gave me access to many viewpoints, and gave me a comprehensive skill set in addition to technical knowledge.


MBA and XLRI:

a) Holistic Learning: A thorough understanding of numerous business activities, such as finance, marketing, operations, and strategy, was provided by the XLRI MBA program. I was well-prepared to handle challenging business difficulties because to this holistic learning method.


b) Industry-Relevant Curriculum: The curriculum at XLRI was developed in conjunction with industry experts, ensuring that the lessons are current and applicable to real-world situations. This relevancy helped me stand out from the competition on the job market and eased my transfer to my new career field.


c) Leadership Development: Leadership development was also stressed in the MBA program. I gained valuable leadership skills through workshops, case studies, and conversations with seasoned professionals. These abilities are necessary in my present position as a product manager.


d) Network and Connections: A great platform for creating a robust professional network was offered by XLRI. Peer, instructor, and alumni exchanges not only increased my knowledge but also provided me with exciting job chances.


A New Horizon: Product Manager at JIO:

I was given the exciting opportunity to join JIO as a Product Manager after earning my MBA. My newly acquired skills were a wonderful fit for the position because it needed a mix of technical knowledge and business experience. As a product manager, it is my job to develop and implement product strategies that are in line with the goals of the business, consumer demands, and market trends.

I've been driven to constantly innovate and change by the new area, which has been an exciting challenge. My technical training and commercial acumen are now put to good use as I collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop products and launch successful initiatives.


Embracing Change and Growth:

Everything about my transition from a software engineer to a product manager at JIO has been transformative. Although initially intimidating, embracing change and pushing outside of my comfort zone has paid me immensely. I have broadened my horizons and learned new aspects of my ability, which has eventually aided in my personal and professional development.


To sum up..

I am grateful for the events that have moulded me into the professional I am today as I reflect on my professional journey. My choice to enroll in the MBA program at XLRI was a game-changer that provided me with invaluable knowledge, contacts, and perspectives. As a Product Manager at JIO right now, I'm at the vanguard of innovation and change and am energized by the opportunities that lie ahead. My experience has taught me that accepting new difficulties is the key to realizing our full potential and that, with the appropriate outlook and tenacity, we can soar to incredible heights in our professional lives.
